An Bord Pleanála approved Phase II of Seven Hills Wind Farm in Irish Midlands last week. This proposal is for 19 turbines in the townlands of Boleyduff, Cam, Cloonacaltry, Culleenoolagh, and Feacle, Co Roscommon.
This decision followed on from similar recent approval from ABP for Phase 1 of this development located several km to the Northwest. ECOFACT ecologists completed the winter bird surveys and prepared the Natura Impact Statements for both of these wind farms. Despite record numbers of objections to these projects, we delivered again for our clients Galetech Energy Developments.
We are delighted that An Bord Pleanála again accepted our ecological assessments, and in particular our technical mitigation proposals to protect whooper swans. We proposed a MERLIN Avian Radar system for each site and provision of this system has been included as planning conditions for each project.
Whooper Swans have already arrived into Co Donegal, so if you require a wintering bird survey completed this year it’s time to start talking to us. ECOFACT is the leading independent provider of bird surveys and ornithological impact assessments in Ireland. Designing and implementing bird surveys and preparing Ornithological Impact Assessments (OIA) are our key area of expertise.
